CREATING SPACE TO LISTEN
Christine Labrum
Artist & Spiritual Director

What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is a practice of companioning another on the spiritual journey. Spiritual direction is found in many traditions, but it has a distinct role in the Christian tradition. The spiritual director is a companion and guide in a three way relationship where God is the director in the truest sense of the title. Meeting with a spiritual director is one way to intentionally create space in your life to listen for God's voice.
Spiritual direction is an act of prayer that focuses on God's loving presence and transforming work.
Why someone might meet with a spiritual director:
-
A desire for a deeper relationship with God
-
Questions for God stirring in one's heart
-
A sense of tension between serving in ministry and fostering one's personal relationship with God
-
A desire for someone to share the journey through a significant life transition
-
A sense of wilderness or doubt in one's spiritual journey
-
A longing to explore desires, hopes, and dreams
-
A desire for discernment of God's perspective when facing a difficult decision or situation
-
A yearning for MORE in one's spiritual life
