Invitation to Stillness, 2011
Pen and ink & Watercolors
Porch of the Jesuit Retreat Center in Wernersville, PA.
Be still (cease striving) and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
We live in a culture that is hurried and busy. There are so many layers to our lives that externally and internally that we are often harried and stressed. There is a chaos that cries out for stillness, rest, and order.
This image feels like an invitation to me. It is calm and reflective. There is an interesting tension between the two spaces. For me, it is an invitation – to be still, to gain perspective, to listen.
